Letter from CEO: The Reason I Take Mold Personally

Letter from CEO: The Reason I Take Mold Personally

Many of you know my daughter Violet's story. How mold toxicity stole a year of her childhood before we even knew what was happening.
How I watched her disappear into brain fog, exhaustion, and recurring infections while doctor after doctor told us nothing was wrong.

That experience broke me open. It’s why I founded this company. And it’s why I want to share something with you today that still shocks me.

At least one in four American homes have mold problems serious enough to affect health.¹ That’s over 30 million households. When you include water damage, the number climbs to nearly half of all homes.²

Here’s what most people do not understand about mold: it’s not like bacteria or viruses. Mold is an extraordinarily complex organism with cell walls made of chitin, the same material found in insect exoskeletons.³ These chitin microfibrils are stronger, weight for weight, than steel!⁴

This is why mold is so difficult to destroy. Most conventional cleaning agents cannot penetrate chitin-rich fungal cell walls.⁵ Bleach may kill surface mold, but it does nothing to neutralize the invisible mycotoxins already released into your air.

Those mycotoxins are what made Violet sick. They are microscopic chemical compounds that pass straight through HEPA filters and accumulate in the body over time.⁶ Children are especially vulnerable because their detoxification systems are not fully developed until around age fifteen.⁷

The health consequences are staggering: 4.6 million asthma cases in America are linked to indoor mold exposure.⁸ Over 7,000 deaths from fungal infections were reported in 2021 alone.⁹ The symptoms often mimic other conditions, which is why so many families suffer for years without answers, just like we did.

Unlike filters that only trap particles, your unit produces hydroxyls, the same molecules nature creates outdoors to clean the atmosphere.¹⁰ These hydroxyls neutralize mold spores and mycotoxins at the molecular level, breaking down what chitin walls were designed to protect.¹¹

If you sometimes wonder whether keeping your WellisAir running really makes a difference, I can tell you from the most painful experience of my life: it does. Every time that unit glows blue, it’s protecting your family from threats that cleaning products and filters simply cannot touch.

Keep it running 24/7. Replace your cartridge every 90 daysDo it for your kids. Do it for yourself.
With gratitude and solidarity,
Bruce Somers, Jr.
CEO, WellisAir
P.S. If you see visible mold in your home, please have it professionally remediated. WellisAir is not a substitute for proper mold removal. Once remediation is complete, running your WellisAir 24/7 helps prevent mold from re-colonizing and continues neutralizing any residual spores and mycotoxins in your air.
