Letter from CEO: Ancient Abbeys, Hidden Mold, and the Unit in My Suitcase

Letter from CEO: Ancient Abbeys, Hidden Mold, and the Unit in My Suitcase

I’m writing to you from Italy, where my family has gathered for a reunion that’s carried us through some of the most extraordinary places I’ve ever set foot in. Ancient churches tucked into hillsides. Abbeys older than the country I come from. Stone chapels that have held centuries of prayer, candle smoke, and rain. They’re stunning. They’re also, as it turns out, quietly full of mold.

Let me take you back for a moment.

As a kid, I was asthmatic. I caught every cold and flu that came through school. My allergies were relentless. What eventually brought me relief wasn’t one thing. It was cleaning up my diet and, honestly, taking an embarrassing number of vitamins, minerals, and supplements. Year by year, I got my symptoms under control. When WellisAir entered my life, it became another critical piece of that puzzle by reducing the live allergens in the air I breathed at home.

I’ve felt so protected for so long that I’d almost forgotten what a full-blown allergy attack feels like.

Italy reminded me.

These remote, breathtaking places we’ve been visiting are also damp and musty. Within a day of arriving, my nose started running and my eyes started watering. The old familiar symptoms showed up like uninvited guests from my childhood.

Here’s what’s different about this trip. For the first time, I packed a WellisAir in my suitcase. Wherever we’ve stayed, I’ve set it up in our room. All day I watch it cycle through its colors, red, then orange, then blue, as it works on the air around us. I cannot make any medical claims. What I can tell you is this: after sleeping eight hours in that room, my nose isn’t running and my eyes aren’t watering. I wake up clear.

The point I want to make is bigger than one bedroom in Italy.

Toxins surround us, and mold is one of the most pervasive. In the forest, mold plays a vital role. It breaks down organic matter and keeps the earth in balance. Indoors, in the modern world we’ve built, it’s a different story. Humans have never been under the kind of toxic bombardment we live with today. Our bodies weren’t designed to process the load of manmade chemicals, synthetic compounds, and invisible pollutants that define life after the industrial revolution.

What I believe is that by lowering the toxic load in the space where I sleep, my body gets a fair chance to do what it was built to do. Process. Recover. Defend.

I don’t just own this company. I live and breathe WellisAir, because I genuinely believe it’s the best defense I have for protecting the air I breathe indoors.

Most of you reading this already know that. You’re the reason WellisAir exists. Today, I just wanted to write to you not as a CEO, but as a fellow customer, to tell you that every time I see those lights illuminate on the unit beside my bed, whether in a village in Tuscany or in my own home back in California, I feel protected. Thank you for being on this journey with me.

Breathe safely,
Bruce Somers, Jr.CEO, WellisAir
